International trade is an increasingly important element of economic development. National economies are rapidly integrating with the global economy thanks to new technologies, decreasing barriers to international investments and advances in information and communication technologies. The phenomenon of competition brought about by globalization makes international markets as important as national markets for businesses in today’s economic and market conditions. It has become necessary for businesses, especially in the process of harmonization with the European Union, to have information about this process and to be able to exist in international areas. In the 21st century’s competitive conditions, the international trade environment can only be carried out within the framework of modern logistics systems. Therefore, experts in the field of international trade practices are expected to have a comprehensive knowledge of logistics.
With the rise of globalization and increased accessibility worldwide, logistics activities have also gained significant importance. Many goods and services consumed throughout the day reach us through underlying logistics processes. From the perspective of service recipients, the quality and safety of the service received have taken precedence over its cost. The timely, complete delivery of goods and services to the desired location and under the required conditions is of utmost importance. Logistics management should not be viewed merely as the coordination of transportation activities; it is a field that encompasses the economic planning and coordination of activities such as the receipt, storage, and transportation of goods, services, information, and similar items to the point where the customer requires them. In recent times, logistics services have begun to undergo fundamental changes in response to global demands and market conditions. A logistics service provider must first identify the specific needs of the logistics user that need to be addressed.
With the economic development in recent years, the increase in foreign trade trends, the increase in international connections, and the transformation of foreign trade transactions into an increasingly complex structure have increased the importance of international trade and logistics. In this context, the diversity in the functioning of foreign trade transactions and their transformation into a complex structure have required states to feed their trade activities with logistics strategies to maintain their economic activities and to have an international sustainable trade system. Therefore, logistics management is vital for the effective functioning of the socio-economic activities of modern society. The organization and structure of global supply chains depend heavily on the efficient functioning of transportation and logistics systems. With the advances in communication technologies, it has become possible to collect, transmit and process big data that enables the tracking, monitoring and management of logistics goods worldwide. Therefore, analyzing big data with modeling and inference systems provides opportunities for better understanding and management of logistics systems.
